Meet Officer Jeromy Hicks, the dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) at Reidland Elementary School. Officer Hicks is a familiar face at the school, warmly interacting with the little Greyhounds as they arrive each day and navigate the hallways between classes. He delights in sharing Campus Police badge stickers with the enthusiastic students, fostering a sense of community and trust. His favorite aspect of being an SRO is the opportunity to build and nurture meaningful relationships with the children.
“When I first arrived at Reidland Elementary, I was thrilled to bring a service that had never existed here before,” Officer Hicks reflected. “Being the first full-time SRO assigned to this school is a privilege I cherish.”
He also praised the administration at Reidland Elementary for their commitment to safety and openness to new ideas. Officer Hicks appreciates their genuine concern for the well-being of every student.
Principal Anne Cox is grateful for the positive impact Officer Hicks has made at Reidland Elementary. She appreciates his consistent presence and how he monitors situations in the school building. “He brings a quiet calm that makes the staff feel secure,” she shared. “And he’s fantastic with the kids!”
Originally from Graves County, Officer Hicks is married and has three daughters and five grandchildren. Prior to his role in McCracken County Public Schools, he served as Chief of Police for the Benton Police Department, retiring in 2019. When he’s not at school, Officer Hicks enjoys spending quality time with his family and savoring his favorite meal at Texas Roadhouse.
