The McCracken County School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Jill Dobson as the Director of Preschool, effective July 1.
Dobson brings more than two decades of experience in education to her new role. She began her career as an elementary teacher at Hendron Lone Oak Elementary School, where she contributed to multiple leadership teams, including the District Curriculum Committee, the Site-Based Decision Making Council, and served as a teacher leader for the Student Technology Leadership Program. Her teaching career also includes time at Farmington Elementary School in Graves County before returning to McCracken County to teach at Concord Elementary School and at Heath Elementary School, where she currently teaches 3rd grade. In the spring of 2024, Dobson served as Interim Assistant Principal at Lone Oak Middle School.
Throughout her 23-year career, Dobson has embraced various leadership opportunities, serving as the grade level chair across multiple grade levels and participating in theComprehensive School Improvement Plan committee. She has also led a pilot program for Mastery Connect and has been recognized as a Renaissance Reading model classroom teacher. Additionally, she was honored as a finalist for the West Kentucky Regional Educator Awards, reflecting her commitment to excellence in education.
Dobson earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in May 2002, a Master of Arts in Special Education in May 2005, a Rank I in Behavior Disorders in July 2007, and an Endorsement for School Administration in December 2021, all from Murray State University.
Superintendent Josh Hunt recognized Dobson’s dedication to the education profession, saying, “Jill Dobson has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to student growth and academic excellence throughout her career. Her passion for early childhood education, combined with her leadership experience and instructional expertise, make her an ideal choice to lead our preschool programs and make a lasting impact on our youngest learners.”
“It’s been the honor of my life to teach elementary school for the last 23 years,” Dobson said. Now, as I transition to Director of Preschool, I look forward to helping our district introduce families to our schools while preparing them to be successful lifelong learners.”
