The McCracken County School District is pleased to announce that Donnie Heath has been named the district's new Director of Pupil Personnel. In this role, Heath will be responsible for overseeing key areas such as student enrollment, attendance, discipline, and academic records. His extensive background in education and dedication to student success make him a strong asset to the district’s leadership team.
Heath joined McCracken County High School in July 2020, where he taught AP U.S. History, U.S. History, Human Government and Geography. He also led the In-School Detention program and several Success Labs aimed at supporting student achievement. In the 2022–2023 school year, Heath participated in the McCracken County Schools District Leadership Academy, and as of July 2024, he began serving as an Assistant Principal at McCracken County High School.
Before his time in McCracken County, Heath taught at both Marshall County High School and North Marshall Middle School. There, he instructed courses in history, leadership, and Spanish, in addition to serving as yearbook sponsor and advisor to various student organizations. His efforts in promoting student leadership and community involvement were widely recognized.
Alongside his teaching career, Heath has been actively involved in coaching. As the Boys Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach at McCracken County High School, he contributed to several district and regional championship wins and was recognized for promoting both athletic and academic excellence. His earlier coaching experiences at Marshall County High School further highlight his leadership and dedication to student growth.
Heath’s academic credentials include a Level Two Principal Certification for all grade levels, earned in May 2022. He also holds an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in December 2021, a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Teacher Leadership in December 2018, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Murray State University in May 2014.
Superintendent Josh Hunt said, “Mr. Heath’s diverse experience as a teacher, coach, and administrator, equips him well to support students and families across the district. We are excited to welcome him to this vital leadership role and look forward to the positive impact he will make as Director of Pupil Personnel.”
Heath shared his enthusiasm for his new role by saying, “McCracken County Public Schools is a great district, with wonderful students and staff. I am looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the many amazing people in our schools, district, and community. I am very humbled and honored to serve the district in this new role.” Heath will officially begin his new role on July 1, 2025.
