McCracken County Public Schools is excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Derek Rothrock as the new Assistant Principal of Reidland Elementary School. With over a decade of experience in education, coaching, and leadership, Mr. Rothrock brings a dynamic and student-centered approach to his new role.
Mr. Rothrock has served since 2010 as a Science Teacher at Lone Oak Middle School, where he designed and implemented engaging, standards-based instruction while promoting an inclusive classroom environment. His commitment to student success extends beyond the classroom through his leadership as both a Boys and Girls Soccer Coach and as the Mountain Bike Coach at McCracken County High School, where he built a thriving, connected team culture.
Currently pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in P-12 Principalship at the University of the Cumberlands, Mr. Rothrock also holds a Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education. His dedication to lifelong learning, character development, and team building perfectly aligns with Reidland Elementary’s mission to empower all students.

Reflecting on his transition to administration, Mr. Rothrock shared, "It has been a privilege to teach at Lone Oak Middle the last 15 years. I am honored and humbled with the opportunity to step into administration at Reidland Elementary. I look forward to partnering with the amazing staff and families of the RES community."
