Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary proudly celebrated Veterans Day with a special ceremony on Monday, where it was announced that the school has earned the prestigious Purple Star Award. This recognition makes Hendron-Lone Oak the first school in McCracken County to receive this distinguished honor for its outstanding support of military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star Award is a state-sponsored designation given to schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to addressing the unique needs of military-connected students, including academic, social, and emotional support. It recognizes schools that go above and beyond to create a welcoming and supportive environment for students from military families.
“We are incredibly proud to receive the Purple Star Award and to continue our strong tradition of supporting military families,” said Principal Natalie Crane. “Our military-connected students and their families make tremendous sacrifices, and we are honored to provide them with the resources and care they need to thrive.”
By earning the Purple Star designation, Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary reaffirms its commitment to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students, especially those with ties to the military. The school is dedicated to ensuring these students receive the academic and emotional support they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.
“We are deeply grateful to our veterans and their families for the sacrifices they make every day,” Principal Crane added. “This recognition is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to supporting military families and ensuring that every student, no matter their background, has the opportunity to achieve success.”
Hendron-Lone Oak Elementary remains committed to its mission of fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students, and the Purple Star Award is a proud reminder of the school’s dedication to its military-connected community.
