Good Evening!
Heath Middle School is sponsoring a FREE, two-week Game of Life Summer Program. This program is for any incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students at Heath Middle School. Dates for the camp are June 2nd- June 5th, 2025 (Monday-Thursday) and June 9th-12th (Monday-Thursday) from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (with transportation included). Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day at no cost. During the Game of Life, programming students will explore career opportunities and post-secondary schooling options that offer their career pathway. Students will also develop budgeting skills and learn that the life we want for ourselves is something we have to work towards, and what better time to start than now! We have a limited number of spaces and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
1. Students can be dropped off around the back of the main building in the cafeteria parking lot starting at 8:00 am. If your child is not riding the bus home, please be at HMS at 11:45 to pick your child up. Pick-up will be in the same location as the morning drop-off. (If you have never dropped off a student, the parking lot is located behind the main building. To get to it, you will need to drive alongside the gymnasium, toward the football field. You will follow the road to the left and should see the cafeteria.)
2. Students will need to be at camp by 8:10 am.
3. If your child takes medication daily or becomes ill and needs medication during summer camp, you must sign a medication log. Children who are concerned to be contagious are not allowed at Summer Camp. If your child becomes ill after arriving at camp, we will contact you or an emergency contact from the enrollment form that you completed.
4. We may spend time in the sun before lunch, so please feel free to send sunscreen with your student. We will do our best to remind and assist your child in re-applying during the day. Your child is more than welcome to bring spray-on sunscreen to camp. McCracken Co. Schools and the H.M.S. staff are not responsible for sunburns.
5. The McCracken County Public Schools Transportation Department should be making phone calls this weekend about what time to expect the bus. In the past, bus drivers have not made phone calls about times until the Sunday afternoon before the start of camp.
We are super excited about summer camp and know your child will have a fantastic time. Please use this link to register your student →https://forms.gle/s2ijWqXMGui1KhG69.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me through email at jared.henson@mccracken.kyschools.us

We plan to be back in school tomorrow, Friday, April 4, 2025, but will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if anything changes.
We can’t wait to see everyone for the last day before spring break! 🎉

Due to severe storms that moved through tonight and ongoing power outages, McCracken County Schools will have a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day on Thursday, April 3, 2025 to allow time for damage assessment across the district.

Due to the impending weather, Pirates Beyond the Bell After School Programming will be canceled for Wednesday, April 2nd.
As a reminder, we will also not have after school programming on Thursday, April 3rd.

🌟 Black History Month Staff Spotlight- Sal Patterson 🌟
This month, we are honored to celebrate the incredible staff members who make a difference in our school community every day! 💙👏
"I want others to know that black history and culture is more than a month in February. It is American History. Our contributions to society and this nation come from more that the major black figures we know. We are more that Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, Dr. M.L. King and Malcom X. We are entrepreneurial barbers, hairstylist, shoe shiners, shop owners, black smiths, jockeys, musicians, dentist, doctors, morticians, and police officers to name just a few. For me, my uncle Robert Lee Patterson, Sr. was Paducah's first black police chief and is credited with being the first black chief of police in Kentucky. That is Black History. For anyone interested in more Kentucky based black history; it can be found online at Notable Kentucky African Americans." Sal Patterson
“Officer Sal Patterson has played a vital role in the success of Heath Middle School. Officer Patterson brings energy and life each and every day that he is around students. He is always willing to help no matter the circumstances. We can’t thank him enough for all that he does for the staff and students of Heath Middle School.” – Matthew Blackwell, Principal HMS

McCracken County Schools is proud to announce that Brandy Roberts, a dedicated teacher at Heath Middle School, has been selected to serve on the Waste Management (WM) Symposia’s STEM Educators’ Council.
