"Sometimes people look at me differently because I am bi-racial and growing up, I was picked on because of it. As a kid, it was hard to understand. But as I grow and understand that not everyone is going to embrace that part of me, I have learned to embrace being black because it is WHO I am. Regardless of how people treat me, I have learned to put others first. Being black has taught me resilience, strength, and courage to face whatever comes because life is not always fair and not everyone is going to treat you fair. My motto is to rise above it and continue to learn to love like Jesus. Black culture is part of our bigger culture and should be embraced and not feared."- Kyler Toney #McCrackenProud

Black History Month
McCracken County Schools will be in session, on February 19, 2024, and March 15, 2024, to make up two snow days. Our school district missed a total of four days in January due to inclement weather. The 2023-2024 school calendar will be reduced two calendar days so students will not make up the other two snow days. Non-traditional instruction (NTI) days will be used for any additional full school days missed going forward.

Snow Day
Due to continued hazardous road conditions, McCracken County Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 18. Thursday will be a normal Snow Day. Just a reminder that buses don’t just travel major highways, they travel rural roads all over the county. Some of these roads are less traveled and take longer to be safely driven on. Also, the National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Thursday at 10:00 a.m. through Friday at 9:00 a.m. with freezing rain becoming a concern in McCracken County beginning around noon on Thursday. The safety of our students and staff is always our number one concern.

Sanders Family Christmas at Market House Theatre runs December 7-17 featuring Sam Lynn (Dennis Sanders, MCHS Student), Emily Parker (Denise Sanders, LOMS Teacher (plays the opposite twin to Sam), Rachel Dodson (Vera Sanders, HES teacher), and Jack Hensel (Sound Technician, HMS Student). Christmas Eve, 1941. As the Depression wanes and war looms following the Pearl Harbor attack, the Sanders family is about to bid farewell to their son, a soon-to-be Marine. In the meantime, the Sanders Family Singers lead the Christmas celebration at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Reverend Mervin Oglethorpe (Clint Warf), the part-time worker at the local pickle plant, joins the family in delivering a festive, humorous, and touching gospel musical filled with classic holiday hymns and carols. The cast also features Chuck Wilkins as Uncle Stanley, Adam Horbovetz as Burl, Rachel Dodson as Vera (Burl's wife), Sam Lynn as Dennis and Emily Parker as Denise who are twins, and Liz Hammonds as June, the twins' sister, who expresses herself through sign language. The production team includes direction and scenic design by Michael Cochran, music direction by Cindy Miller, and lighting design by Jerome Veit, costume design by Eddie Barrows, and stage management and properties by Alexandra Brue. Don't miss the chance to be part of this night of faith, family, and gospel as “Sanders Family Christmas” graces the stage at Market House Theatre.
