The McCracken County Mustangs and Community Christian Academy Warriors met on the baseball diamond at Edward Jones Field Monday night for the first time since the spring of 2018. In three innings, the No. 3 ranked McCracken County defeated CCA in a perfect 15-0 finish.

The arms of Weston Miller and Griffin Cantrell went for a combined no-hitter with clean stat lines on the mound. Miller and Cantrell did not allow a single walk or hit in the contest.

McCracken County second baseman Andrew Farmer led the team offensively, going 3-for-3 with a standup double and two RBI in the win for the Mustangs.

In addition to Farmer’s prowess at the dish, senior Tyler Chapman went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Kendrick Dunning, Trace Cressler, Braden Truitt, Noah Godwin, Lane Grace, Will Fox, Braden Casebier, and Gage Dugan each collected hits in the win for McCracken County. Sophomore Dugan led the team with four RBI.

“It means a lot [being one of 15 seniors] playing with these guys,” Farmer said. “I’ve been playing with them my whole life, and they’re my best friends. I wouldn’t trade any of these guys for the world.”

The Mustangs plated 10 runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the first inning to take a 10-0 lead over Community Christian Academy. Five more runs came in the second inning on six hits, including three doubles courtesy of Casebier, Fox, and Truitt.

“It was a good district win, and it felt good to throw for the first time in a year,” Miller said. “Overall, the team hit well, and younger teammates had the opportunity to get some at-bats.”

Miller threw two innings on the mound for McCracken County. The senior righty struck out six on 22 pitches, 18 called strikes. Miller faced six batters. Cantrell closed the game for the Mustangs, working one inning and striking out all three batters faced on 13 pitches, nine called strikes.

Cooper Reed took the loss for Community Christian Academy. The sophomore hurler threw one inning, allowing 10 hits and 10 runs (nine earned) with one walk and strikeout on 49 pitches, facing 14 batters. Seventh grader Colvin Davidson worked an inning for the Warriors, allowing six hits, five runs (earned), one walk, and one strikeout on 40 pitches, facing 10 batters.

The Community Christian Academy Warriors will head to Fulton City on Tuesday night. The Warriors will host Crittenden County, Paducah Tilghman, and Christian Fellowship at home next week.
