The McCracken County Lady Mustangs added to the win column on Thursday night while hosting the Massac County Lady Patriots at Baptist Health Field. The Lady Mustangs defeated Massac County in a 6-2 finish.

Despite a slow offensive start, the Lady Mustangs found momentum in the form of Savannah McDowell. McDowell knocked a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the Mustangs on the scoreboard.

“It means a lot to me because I’ve been in a little bit of a slump,” McDowell said. “I was telling myself that I needed to get on base, and it felt good to make contact and see it go over.”

Although Massac County was on the board early in the top of the first inning, the remainder of the contest, the Patriots could not monopolize and plate more runs across home plate.

Addley Leidecker earned the win for the Lady Mustangs. Leidecker appeared in relief and worked five innings in the circle. She allowed one hit while striking out four of 17 batters to keep the Lady Mustangs ahead of Massac County.

Sidney Foster took the loss for the Patriots. Foster worked six innings, allowing seven hits, six runs (five earned), and one walk while striking out two of 28 batters.

The Lady Mustangs plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure a comfortable lead against Massac County with singles by Ellie Shoulders and Raygan Rodgers, which brought home Cami Cox, Macy Butler, and eventually Shoulders on the RBI single by Rodgers.
