On Thursday, McCracken County faithful gathered at Marquette Stadium for the upcoming fall sports season’s annual “Meet the Mustangs” event. The event featured 13 different fall programs in attendance and mentioned other sports unable to attend due to evening matchups across the local area.
Spectators were introduced to coed cheer, all-girl cheer, dance, middle school cheer, seventh and eighth-grade football, boys cross country, girls cross country, boys golf, girls golf, volleyball, varsity/junior varsity football, mountain biking, and youth football. Teams such as middle school baseball and soccer were not in attendance but were mentioned.
Before the event, McCracken County fall athletes participated in activities such as a hula hoop contest, and spectators could bid on a silent auction—which included items such as calling the first play of the Apollo and Crittenden games, being the ball/water boy for each home game, and two reserved chair seats.
After the event, the McCracken County varsity football team scrimmaged against the Trigg County Wildcats, giving spectators a taste of the upcoming season under new head coach Tyler Brooks.
The Mustang football team will kick off the regular season on August 24 in the annual Rumble on the River against Paducah Tilghman at McRight. Tickets go on sale Monday, August 19.
