Over the weekend, the McCracken County Lady Mustangs competed in the Daviess County Classic, going undefeated with an 8-0 finish against Owensboro Catholic and defeating South Warren with a 4-1 final. The two back-to-back victories allow the Lady Mustangs to remain perfect early this fall season with a 3-0 win-loss record.
In the first game against Owensboro Catholic, Makenzie Burgett (one assist) and Maddy Ledgerwood led the team with two goals each. Katelyn Heider, Lilly Smith, Brisa Perez (one assist), and Savannah McDowell collected a goal in the contest. Heider led the team against the Aces with two assists. Goalkeeper Addison Smith earned the shutout.
For the second game in the event, the Lady Mustangs relied on four goals, two of which came from Audrey Estes. Ashlyn Blackwell and McDowell additionally scored goals for McCracken County. Heider, Heather Mendoza, and Payton Ledgerwood tallied assists in the win. Addison Smith finished the day with five saves and one goal allowed, while Trinity McDonough collected one save for the Lady Stangs.
The Lady Mustangs head into the week with an unblemished record. They have allowed one goal this season while scoring 20. Estes leads the team with five goals, averaging 1.7 per game. Heider has a team-best with assists. Addison Smith has two shutouts in three games.McCracken County will head to Clarksville on Tuesday to face Northwest. Over the weekend, the Lady Mustangs will compete at the Rocky Top Sports Park. The season home opener will occur on September 14 against Lakeland Prep (TN) and Evansville FJ Reitz (IN).
