The McCracken County girls soccer team picked up their second win against St. Mary this season when they hosted them on Tuesday Night. Sophomore Maddy Ledgerwood picked up an astonishing seven goals in the team’s 12-0 win, bringing her goal total to 20 in just nine games.

“She’s been huge. She has a lot of players around her that opens up the field for her and she does the same for them. She just has a knack for scoring goals,” McCracken County head coach Mike Lane said.

She scored the the first three goals for the Lady Mustangs just 11 minutes into the game, dribbling past the defense and creating open looks. Katelyn Heider followed this up by knocking one in that made it 4-0 halfway through the first half.

Heider’s goal started a run where McCracken scored five goals in five minutes. Kiera Tynes scored quickly after Heider, followed by Ledgewood’s fourth and fifth goals of the match, and Tynes capping off this quick run with her second goal that made it 8-0 in favor of the Lady Mustangs.

After Audrey Estes tapped one in to extend their lead to nine, Ledgewood scored two more consecutive goals that capped off her seven-goal performance. With 30 seconds to go in the half, Heider struck net for a second time and put the exclamation mark on the Lady Mustangs 12-0 win over St. Mary.

St. Mary moves on to face Crittenden County at home on Thursday while the Lady Mustangs travel to take on a tough Harpeth team in Tennessee.

“They’re probably the best team we will play all year long. They usually have several D-1 players. They haven’t lost a game this season. It’s going to be a battle.”
