The McCracken County Lady Mustangs picked up their 11th win of the season over Graves County on Tuesday, improving 4-0 in region play. This was the one and only time these teams will matchup in the regular season. The Lady Mustangs beat the Lady Eagles by a score of 8-0 in 55 minutes of action.

The Lady Mustangs are coming off a strong weekend where they went 2-0 in their own ‘Lady Mustang Classic,’ which was held at McCracken County High School. They beat Lakeland Prep 8-0 and Evansville North 2-0.

Tuesday’s matchup against Graves proved to be historic for McCracken County, marking 50 career goals for both junior Audrey Estes and sophomore Maddy Ledgerwood.

Addison Smith also recorded her seventh shutout this season and the 21st of her career which is an all time shutout record at McCracken County. And, she will likely gain a lot more as Smith is just a sophomore, and has two more years left to accumulate more.

Ledgerwood netted two early in just six minutes, and then took a well deserved rest for the last 30 minutes of this contest. Estes scored the fifth goal for the Lady Mustangs in the 21st minute, marking her 50th goal.

The Lady Mustangs had tons of strong chances throughout the first half, but were able to put this one away in just forty minutes. McCracken went into the half leading 6-0. The Graves County defense played very well later in the first half and shortly into the second.

Play resumed after half, where Ava Englert and Makenzie Burgett both tapped in goals to end the game in the 55th minute by a 8-0 score.

Graves County goes on to play their second straight game at home on Thursday in a region matchup against the Lady Marshals. McCracken has saved their region games until their final stretch, where they end the season with five out their seven remaining games against region opponents. Head coach Mike Lane has high expectations for his girls throughout the remainder of the season.

“We’re looking to keep building momentum and peak at the right time. I don’t think we’ve peaked yet. The last four games of the season are games where we need to let our region opponents know that we’re here to play.”

McCracken will be back in action on Thursday where they will take on Paducah Tilghman at home with a 7 p.m. start.
