His innovative teaching methods and commitment to student success have been evident throughout his tenure.
In 2013, he transitioned into the role of Curriculum Specialist, focusing on improving instructional practices and curriculum. At the district level he led professional development and worked to create and manage common assessments.
From 2017 to 2019, Metzger served as an ISD Teacher, where he enhanced the structure of in-school detention to better utilize instructional time for at-risk students. Most recently, he has served as an RTI Specialist. His expertise in data analysis, curriculum planning, and assessment has been instrumental in fostering student growth.
“It is difficult to express how honored my family is to be asked to serve the amazing professionals of McCracken County High School,” said Metzger. “I am excited and humbled by the opportunity to work with so many truly talented teachers. I’ve spent my entire life in the McCracken County community. I was educated in McCracken County Public Schools as a child, and have spent my entire teaching career in the McCracken County School District. To be asked to serve this community I love so much in a new capacity is humbling. We live in an amazing place, and I am fortunate to be able to work with our students, the future community leaders, on a daily basis.”
Metzger holds a Master’s degree in English Literature and a Bachelor’s degree in English/Secondary Education from Murray State University.
“I am thrilled to welcome Mr. Metzger to our MCHS Administration Team. He is full of innovative ideas to enhance our school for the community we serve and has already dived headfirst into planning for the upcoming year,” said MCHS Principal Jonathan Smith. “His valuable experience in curriculum coaching will be a tremendous asset to MCHS.”
