McCracken County High School proudly announces two of its outstanding students, Owen Cody and Garret Greenwell, have been named as National Merit Finalists. This prestigious recognition is a testament to their exceptional academic achievements, dedication, and leadership. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an esteemed academic competition that honors students across the United States for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). To become a Finalist, the Semifinalist and a high school official must submit a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide information about the Semifinalist’s academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received. Being named a National Merit Finalist places Owen and Garret among the top students in the nation, a distinction that reflects their exceptional academic abilities and potential for future success. Owen and Garret have demonstrated exemplary performance both inside and outside the classroom, showcasing their commitment to academic excellence and their passion for learning. Congratulations! #McCrackenProud

McCracken County Schools will be in session, on February 19, 2024, and March 15, 2024, to make up two snow days. Our school district missed a total of four days in January due to inclement weather. The 2023-2024 school calendar will be reduced two calendar days so students will not make up the other two snow days. Non-traditional instruction (NTI) days will be used for any additional full school days missed going forward.

We plan to be in school tomorrow. However, there is a slight chance of precipitation overnight that could impact morning travel. District officials will be out early checking roads. At that time, we will notify families if there is a change to the regular school day schedule.

Due to continued hazardous road conditions, McCracken County Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 18. Thursday will be a normal Snow Day. Just a reminder that buses don’t just travel major highways, they travel rural roads all over the county. Some of these roads are less traveled and take longer to be safely driven on. Also, the National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Thursday at 10:00 a.m. through Friday at 9:00 a.m. with freezing rain becoming a concern in McCracken County beginning around noon on Thursday. The safety of our students and staff is always our number one concern.
