Who doesn't love a party? On Friday, McCracken County High School held a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Field Day! Students who met the attendance and behavior qualifications were able to participate in outside games, a Kick Ball tournament, face painting, visit with friends, and purchase special treats like Swirls and Kona Ice. AP Seminar students attended a review session at Murray State’s Paducah Campus. Students were able to meet with expert teachers through the Advance Kentucky Program. #McCrackenProud “AP Seminar rekindles the curiosity of youth and fortifies it with transferable skills with which students can engage in deeper learning about problems and issues of interest to them. Research suggests that more than any other AP course, AP Seminar positively influences the number of AP courses students take and qualifying scores they earn. Kentucky students are uniquely situated to take advantage of this opportunity as AP Seminar can serve as the English 10 credit.”s A

Last year's winning KSA testing group, the Pink Team, was rewarded with a trip to Super Bowl! They achieved the highest GROUP average KSA score, and what better way to celebrate their hard work and dedication than with a day filled with bowling, pizza, and arcade games? The Manchikanti Library has been hosting trivia for the past few days! Teachers were able to sign up their classes and compete in "Face the Music" Trivia. While music might strike a chord, the trivia isn't just about tunes and melodies. For instance, the category might be Taylor "Swift" but students could be asked to calculate how FAST a giraffe can run. #SmartStangs

Congratulations to McCracken County High School Seniors Aiden Clarke and Colton Blackwell! On April 25, the Associated General Contractors of Western Kentucky recognized 29 local students chosen to be 'Student of the Week' this academic school year. During the banquet, students received a plaque, a laminated copy of their article, and a Milwaukee drill set. Aiden Clarke - Collision Colton Blackwell - Carpentry "The Technical Center Student of the Week is an initiative sponsored by the AGC of Western Kentucky to highlight the achievements of students enrolled in technical and trade programs of Ballard County Career and Technical Center, Marshall County Technical Center, Paducah ATC, Fulton County ATC, Mayfield-Graves County ATC, Murray-Calloway County ATC and Caldwell County ATC. A vocational student is recognized over 29 weeks during the school year from one of the seven tech centers in the region as Student of the Week. With a wealth of experience as the Director of Exceptional Children Programs for McCracken County Schools, Sonnek brings a proven track record of dedication and innovation to his new position.
